Iraqi security forces today attacked the campaign to win back the areas north of the capital of Baghdad from the hands of the Islamic State.

A Colonel in the Iraqi army said that more than 7000 military personnel participated in the campaign to win back the areas west of the city of Samarra.
The aforesaid area, located from Samarra to Baiji city, considered the corridor connecting territory of the Islamic State (ISIS) control around the city of Mosul, the stronghold of rebel groups, with the places farther south.
ISIS opens the series of attacks and captured much of the territory North and West of Baghdad in June 2014. The Iraqi security forces, are the international coalition air support RAID, then won back substantial territory area.
Iraqi troops pushed back ISIS out of Ramadi, capital of Anbar province, at the end of last year and is being diverted to the North, where they brought supplies and rebels in the province.
